National Consultation on the Development of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage Held at Green University On April 3rd, 2026, Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Studies (Green University) hosted the National Consultation on the Development of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage. The event brought together representatives from government agencies, international organizations, local communities, and climate change experts. The consultation opened with welcome remarks from Farrukh Sattarov, Director of the National Centre for Climate Change at the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Pulatov, Rector of Green University and Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan. Participants were introduced and briefed on the objectives and priorities of the FRLD. They offered comments and feedback on the project, discussing both community-level approaches to address economic and non-economic losses caused by climate change and policy-level initiatives for long-term planning. The consultation also highlighted ongoing slow-onset climate events in Uzbekistan and the importance of an integrated approach to addressing their impacts. The event emphasized the critical role of collaboration between the government, academic institutions, and international partners in effectively responding to climate change impacts and protecting vulnerable communities.
